The New Drug Talk: Community Edition Virtual Screening

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting communities with behavioral health resources, Trillium has partnered with Song for Charlie to expand their parent and caregiver fentanyl education programs in Oregon. These materials include “The New Drug Talk,” a program designed to help parents and caregivers educate young people about the risks associated with fentanyl, counterfeit pills, and today’s drug environment.

This National Fentanyl Awareness Day, please join Song for Charlie for a special virtual screening of "The New Drug Talk: Community Edition." This session, moderated by prevention expert Marcia Lee Taylor, includes a screening of a 27-minute film for parents and communities, "The New Drug Talk," followed by Q&A/panel with impacted family members, medical professionals, and prevention experts. Topics covered include the current reality of fentanyl and fake prescription pills, how to have effective conversations with teens and young adults, warning signs and actions to take, and where to find naloxone and how to use it.

One conversation could save a life. Please share this information with your patients and colleagues who may want to attend.

Cybersecurity Reminder from Center for Medicaid & CHIP Services

The Center for Medicaid & CHIP Services (CMCS) has issued a reminder of the importance for Medicaid and CHIP agencies, their contractors, and vendors to safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personal Identifiable Information (PII), and maintain business operations during natural or human-made disasters, including cyberattacks. Given the digital world in which many healthcare services are provided, the recommendations in the CMCS Cyber Security for State Medicaid Programs memo (PDF) are essential to reducing risk for both members and providers.

Federal laws and regulations mandate the protection of PHI. For more information about organizations' obligations to protect PHI, maintaining business operations, requirements, and recommended practices, please review this CMCS Cyber Security for State Medicaid Programs memo (PDF).

Additional resources:
• The HIPAA Security Rule NPRM can be viewed at the Federal Register
• CMS Cybersecurity Guidance Materials are available at the HHS website

Thank you for your partnership!
